Role Description

The Junior Cybersecurity Engineer position will provide security monitoring and PCI assessment assistance to a large client on a long-term basis.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor client endpoint security systems in a junior SOC augmentation role. Triage and
    investigate events and alerts as required; escalate per client service agreement using the
    client’s ticketing system
  • Perform file integrity monitoring activities in accordance with the client agreement
  •  Manage and administrate the applications as directed; perform minor and major upgrades as
    needed in coordination with the client per defined service levels
  • Attend/hold meetings with the client team as needed per the client agreement
  • Troubleshoot/report offline endpoints to the client team
  • Perform client system agent installations as necessary
  • Stay abreast of any security bulletins affecting the managed, in-scope products and
    communicate these to the client team
  • Explore additional threat vectors that may be captured using the in-scope products
  • Provide weekly status reports and attend bi-weekly meetings as required by the client
  • Perform compliance risk assessments as needed in accordance with NIST SP 800-30; conduct
    self-attestation interviews with designated client employees as necessary; transcribe
    interviews and complete PCI risk assessment reports and assessment report reviews
  • Maintains awareness on cybersecurity threats and trends
  • Complete all assigned training in a timely manner
  • Engage with members of the cybersecurity engineering team to foster collaboration and crosstraining opportunities
  • Facilitates continuous improvement of project-related deliverables and service offerings
  • Enhances company reputation by actively practicing core values of the organization
  • Collaborates with all HighPoint regions and departments as required
  • Adheres to regular and predictable attendance and punctuality expectations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) and two years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination
    of education, relevant certifications, and work experience
  • Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical
    journals, group financial reports, and general legal documents; Ability to respond to common
    inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community; Ability to
    write speeches and articles for publication that conform to the prescribed style and format;
    Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, Board of
    Directors, etc.; Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with others
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and
    statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry; Ability to
    apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportion to practical situations
  • Presentation Skills – Ability to present to individuals and groups (large and small) via
    discussion, whiteboard, PowerPoint, etc. while demonstrating professionalism
  • Willingness to learn – The willingness and ability to learn, especially while engaged in a
    project, are vital to this role. At times, consultants may be engaged in a project and not have
    the specific, requisite knowledge going into the project. It’s important to be willing to learn
    and come up to speed quickly on necessary client needs while engaged in a client project.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
    conclusions; Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in
    mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Computer & Software Skills – Cybersecurity hardware/software solutions, Spreadsheet, Word
    Processing and Presentation software. The systems and applications include but are not
    limited to:
  • Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Carbon Black App Control and Trend Deep Security are a big plus!
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver multiple, complex technology projects
  • Strong understanding of documentation standards and change control procedures
  • Experience in working with large enterprise clients
  • Familiar with OWASP top 10, Mitre Att&ck, ISO 27001, GDPR, and NIST Cybersecurity
